La Hacienda de San Angel is the newer restaurant in Epcot’s Mexico with beautiful lagoon views and elegant yet welcoming décor. I imagine this would be a great place to watch the fireworks if you can get a window seat at the right time.
In typical Disney fashion, they went all out on details. Each room has different intricate light fixtures, painted ceilings and fun art pieces to complete the theme.
I’m not a huge tequila person, but I have tried a margarita at La Cava Del Tequila and really enjoyed it so we decided to try out the margaritas here. I ordered the classic and my sister decided to be adventurous and get the avocado margarita. It tasted like melon, sweet with a touch of avocado flavor.
The Avocado Margarita went well with the spiciness of the food. It was frozen, not on the rocks so about halfway through we were thinking it was too much sweet flavor and thickness. The Classic margarita was very good. Honestly, the drinks weren’t as strong as the ones in the tequila cave so not sure it was worth the price. We added the leftover ice from my drink into the avocado one to thin it out so we could finish it. Fun to try, but we wouldn’t order it again.
Now the highlight of this meal was the soup, the Crema de Elote! The menus description says “Corn cream soup with julienne spicy tortillas, roasted corn kernels, and Mexican sour cream”.
The presentation is really elegant and one this soup deserves. They bring the bowl out with julienne spicy tortillas, roasted corn, Mexican sour cream and a red sauce that isn’t listed in the description. Then they pour the silky pale yellow soup into the bowl in front of you.
So perfectly creamy, sweet and delicious. Your mouth is filled with the sweet flavor of corn and the soup has a spicy kick that keeps you coming back for more. Seriously this was so good, I am still thinking about it. This is one of those foods that while we were eating we were both just saying, this is so good the whole time. I plan to go back and just order a bowl of this soup.
Now I’m wondering and wishing you could order this soup to go! Let us know in the comments your thoughts on this soup.
Bonus: Check out these awesomely weird cherubs that are near the bathrooms, lol!
