I found out about Meaney’s Mini Donuts on Pinterest when I was researching our day trip to Siesta Key. We invited our fellow blogger Outdoorsy Diva to join us on our adventure and, after reading the reviews about these donuts, I knew we had to stop. I mean, donuts and a beach town don’t exactly go together, but that’s what could make this place interesting… if they were good.

They were amazing!

They had lots of donut topping options. We waited patiently in the hot sun. I think the guy in front of us ordered ALL the donuts plus a special order at that. We were dying of thirst and sick of the sun at this point. It was finally my turn and I ordered 6 cinnamon sugar donuts for $2.75. The donuts came in a cute little paper bag and were nice and hot and tossed in cinnamon sugar.

 

We crossed the street and grabbed a bench in the Gazebo to get out of the sun. I dove in and took a bite. The donut was crunchy on the outside and warm and chewy on the inside. Amazing! They melted in your mouth. I bounced the remaining donuts around in the extra cinnamon sugar and offered them up for my friends to try. We all got different types so we could sample each others. Heather got the Key Lime Pie and it was really delicious, they were served on a stick and had the pretty green icing poured on top and were sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs.

Outdoorsy Diva ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake. It kind of tasted like bavarian cream. It was good but kind of overpowered the donut taste. The cinnamon sugar was a perfect mix; after trying all three, I like them the best. However, Heather and Outdoorsy Diva agreed that the Key Lime Pie was the best, so I guess to each her own. (We can’t help you decide what to order, just that you need to go!)

Around an hour into our drive home we were wishing we would have bought some donuts for dessert (the Chocolate Peanut Butter ones to be exact.)

I can’t stop thinking about these donuts. Because of their goodness and the fact that Heather and I continue to message each other with the word “donut” anytime we are thinking about them. You have to try Meaney’s Mini Donuts if you are anywhere near Siesta Key!
